Join UK Healthcare and Life Sciences Innovation (UKHLSI) and Curia for the first session in our NHS Modernisation Bill member evidence series, focused on the digital provisions of the Bill and the proposed single patient record.

This members only roundtable will bring together UKHLSI and Curia members, health leaders, innovators and policy stakeholders to explore how the single patient record can be implemented safely, effectively, and in a way that supports better care. Lunch is provided. Online dial in will take place 12.30-1.30pm

The single patient record has been identified as one of the most significant opportunities within the Bill. If delivered well, it could reduce fragmentation, improve communication across services and help patients avoid repeating their story across different parts of the NHS.

However, digital reform will only succeed if it is built on trust. The proposal raises important questions around privacy, consent, data access, cyber security, interoperability, accountability and public confidence. It must also work in practice for frontline staff across primary care, secondary care, community services and social care.The discussion will consider:

• What safeguards are needed around privacy, consent, data access and security
• How accountability should work when patient data is shared across different parts of the system
• How the single patient record can operate across primary care, secondary care and social care
• What frontline staff will need for the system to be usable, trusted and effective
• How digital reform can strengthen, rather than undermine, public confidence

The session will inform a member recommendations paper on data trust, interoperability, safeguards, patient communication, and the practical implementation of the single patient record.

This event is part of UKHLSI and Curia’s wider programme of member engagement on the NHS Modernisation Bill, moving the conversation from legislation to implementation.
