Join UK Healthcare and Life Sciences Innovation’s Mental Health Working Group and Thalamos for a special live event with Sir Norman Lamb, exploring the ideas behind his new book, Be More Human: Why Mental Health Care is Broken – and What We Can Do to Fix It. Politics UK will join the event as official media partner, bringing the conversation to audiences across its platforms.

Drawing on his experience as a former Health Minister and longstanding campaigner for mental health reform, Sir Norman will explore why our current response to mental distress and ill health needs to change, and how more humane, effective and sustainable approaches to care can be delivered in practice.

The event will open with a conversation between Sir Norman and Steve Gilbert OBE, Chair of the UKHLSI Mental Health Working Group, followed by questions from the audience. The discussion will then broaden into a panel reflecting on the themes raised and what they mean for the future of mental health policy, services and delivery.

Bringing together senior leaders from across the NHS, mental health services, public health, local government, Parliament and the wider sector, the session will consider how we move beyond a system too often centred on crisis towards one built around earlier intervention, dignity, choice and better outcomes.

Hosted by Thalamos, the event will take place in Central London and will also be livestreamed across Politics UK’s platforms, giving those unable to attend in person the opportunity to join the conversation.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase a copy of Be More Human (see add-on on the ticketing page) and have it signed by Sir Norman following the discussion.

For those joining online, the session will run 12:30-13:30. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person.

Please note, your place is only confirmed if you recieve official confirmation from UKHLSI (Eventbrite confirmations are not valid).
