Scanning Pens is a leading manufacturer and exporter of assistive technology.
The story of Scanning Pens began when two tech lovers – Toby Sutton and Jack Churchill – met at Oxford Brookes University. Capitalising on the fast-developing world of eCommerce, the two entrepreneurs set up business together in 2003, selling a range of tech products online, and Scanning Pens was born.
Supporting Neurodiversity
As the business progressed, Toby and Jack saw the importance of smart pen scanners. With Jack having dyslexia, he saw the potential of what this innovative technology could do, so wanted to help nurture neurodiverse people with their reading. By 2008, we began working with Swedish-based company, C-Pen, to sell and market assistive reading technology fulltime.
A Bright and Exciting Future
In September 2014, the JCQ exam board allowed use of pens scanners in UK exams, providing a real turning point, and taking us to even greater heights. With over 100 staff throughout the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and India, we are proud to be continuing to spread the awareness of neurodiversity and help the world discover the love of reading for years to come.
