Following their successful workshop day with RefuAid, IQVIA detail their experience in supporting refugees and asylum seekers through employability.
At IQVIA, we work to make a positive difference in global healthcare and are committed to continuing our position in sustainable environmental, social and governance practices that further our corporate purpose of helping improve healthcare outcomes for patients.
On 11th August, we ran our first employability event in our UK HQ offices in Paddington for 12 Refugee Pharmacists who are currently being supported by the charity RefuAid. The attendees came from across the country, traveling from Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.
In collaboration with RefuAid, a non-profit organisation who support refugees and asylum seekers across the UK to access higher education and employment, the day was designed to support them in making effective applications, including a series of workshops on the UK pharmacy sector, different opportunities for Pharmacists inside and outside of the NHS, CV preparation and mock interviewing.
At IQVIA, through our dedicated team of clinical pharmacists and nurses, we support primary care and community health services to help manage hospital and UEC demand. Our team was delighted to share its time with our clients to take them through opportunities to practice Pharmacy within the UK, including Community setting, Industry, Academia and Primary and Secondary Care. This was complemented by interview support in answering targeted questions for Pharmacists, such as “Give us an example of a time when you explained a new medicine to a patient” and “Tell us about a time when you demonstrated leadership.”
IQVIA and RefuAid will continue to work together to support refugees getting back into employment across the UK. All 12 Refugee clients will receive the opportunity for mentoring to support them in their next steps, with further sessions for Pharmacists and nurses planned in 2023.
