About the LGBT+ Commission

Providing a solutions-based approach, the LGBT+ Commission will publish an assessment of the key issues affecting the UK’s LGBT+ community, and produce workable recommendations for local, regional, and national government to combat these problems.

In collaboration with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global LGBT+ Rights, LGBT+ civil society groups and local/regional government, the Commission will bring together data, insights, and understanding on the following key issues:

  • Healthcare, mental health, fertility, and sexual health
  • Homelessness and housing
  • Hate crime, domestic violence and sexual violence
  • Employment and employability

On these four issues, the LGBT+ Commission and its partners will work to:

  • Gather and analyse relevant data and solution-based case studies
  • Hold inquiry sessions
  • Set out a series of in-depth recommendations
  • Develop an implementation plan and work with relevant bodies to make change happen

2022 Programme

Following the completion of the inquiry sessions, the LGBT+ Commission will hold an event during Pride month outlining the progress of the Commission and the emergent recommendations and areas that the Commission will be focusing on as it puts together the final report.

The final report will be launched in November 2022, setting out a series of in-depth recommendations and an implementation plan to make change happen. Following this, Curia will work to appraise the progress of Government departments and relevant bodies on their progress in 2023.

What is Curia?

Curia is the UK’s first “do tank” helping organisations to transform policy into practice. Through innovative research, expert data analytics and leading insight from an operational and decision-maker level, Curia sits between the think tank and consultancy worlds.

Through Commissions, Curia provides recommendations on how policy can deliver change. Governmental bodies from around the world use Curia to help them transform recommendations into fully functional implementation plans. Demonstrating measurable change and appraising progress to make change happen is critical to Curia’s work.
